The focus of this project is to calculate the arc length of a free throw. The calculations take into consideration the angle from which the ball is released and the initial speed of the basketball, as well as the initial horizontal and vertical position of the ball. Another important factor that was needed in order to obtain the final result was the time it takes for the ball to travel from the hand of the player to the basket, to achieve this, the basketball coach timed one of his players 5 times they made the shot and then an average time was calculated. Once all of this information was gathered it was plugged in into the final arc length equation. The results show an accurate representation of an ideal arc length to make a free throw.
