Barker, G. Patrick, December 1979 - A CLIENT-CENTERED EVALUATION
OF THE SUICIDE AND CRISIS CENTER OF HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY
Abstract: This thesis includes an historical and cross-cultural
overview of suicide. It discusses the roles, functions, and major
features of suicide prevention centers in our own society. One
such center is the subject of an ethnographic profile - the
Suicide and Crisis Center of Hillsborough County (SCCHC). The
methodological, analytical, and concluding phases of a client-centered evaluative research project of the SCCHC are described.
The evaluation project is based on a pre-tested questionnaire
which partially measures the qualitative and quantitative success
and assesses the operational modalities of the Center.
Conclusions indicate that the SCCHC is providing exemplary mental
health care to those utilizing its services.
